I am a typist and having intense pain in the MP joint of my right thumb. At times there is a painful sensation of grating and tightness, but this sensation at times is intermittent. Bone scan shows minimal uptake. Steroid injections help minimally. My physician is perplexed and is suggesting fusing the joint. Are there other alternatives to fusion?
