1-Androsterone

1-Androsterone (pronounced as: one-an-droh-ster-ohn), also known as 1-DHEA, is a type of androgen and steroid that is used as a supplement for bodybuilding and strength training.

Etymology

The term "1-Androsterone" is derived from the words "andro", which is Greek for "man", and "sterone", which is a suffix used in chemical nomenclature to denote a steroid. The "1" in 1-Androsterone refers to the position of the double bond in the steroid structure.

Usage

1-Androsterone is a prohormone, which means it is a precursor to certain types of hormones in the body. When ingested, it is converted into 1-Testosterone through a two-step process involving the enzymes 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.
