(ak'-ar-oid) [acarus; eldoc, like]. Mite- like. A. Gum, Botany Bay gum; resina lutea. An aromatic resin used in Australia as a remedy for gastric troubles, intestinal catarrhs, diarrheas, etc. Dose 8-16 gr. (0.5-1.0 Gm.) in alcoholic solution. Unof. Benzoic acid is prepared from it, and it is said to have the properties of storax and balsam of Peru. A. Resin. See A. Gum.
