Adjust (/əˈdʒʌst/), from the Old French ajuster meaning "to arrange", is a term used in various fields of medicine to describe the process of altering or correcting something to achieve a desired fit, appearance, or result.
In Chiropractic, an adjust refers to the specific manipulation chiropractors apply to vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally.
In Psychiatry, adjust is often used in the context of Adjustment Disorders, a group of conditions that can occur when you have difficulty coping with a stressful life event, such as the death of a loved one.
In Optometry, to adjust is to change the position or alignment of eyeglasses to fit the wearer properly.
