Airport
An Airport (pronunciation: /ˈɛərˌpɔːrt/) is a location where aircraft such as fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and blimps take off and land. It is typically equipped with extended facilities to store and maintain aircraft, and a control tower.
Etymology
The term "airport" originated from the combination of the words "air" and "port". The word "air" is derived from the Old French air, which is from Latin āēr, from Greek ḗr. The word "port" comes from the Old English port, which is from Latin portus.
