Beyoncé (pronounced: /biːˈjɒnseɪ/) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas.

Etymology

The name Beyoncé is a tribute to her mother's maiden name, Beyincé. The name is of French origin, derived from the word 'bey', meaning 'beyond' and 'incé', meaning 'since'.
