Crutch

Crutch (/krʌtʃ/), from the Old English crycc (meaning "staff"), is a mobility aid that transfers weight from the legs to the upper body. It is often used by people who cannot use their legs to support their weight, for reasons ranging from short-term injuries to lifelong disabilities.

Types of Crutches

Crutches come in many shapes and sizes, the most common being the Underarm Crutch and the Forearm Crutch. Underarm crutches are typically used by individuals with temporary mobility issues, such as a broken leg. Forearm crutches, also known as elbow crutches, are used by individuals with long-term mobility challenges.

Usage

Crutches are typically used in pairs to allow the user to walk while relieving the weight from one foot or leg. However, in cases of a minor injury or slight disability, a single crutch can be used. The Gait or pattern of walking may vary depending on the user's ability and energy level.
