It is also used under the brand name Toctect to treat the toxic effects of a cancer drug leaking from a vein into surrounding tissues, causing tissue damage. Dexrazoxane hydrochloride is also being studied to treat some types of cancer. It is a type of cardioprotectant, a type of chemoprotectant, and a type of topoisomerase inhibitor. Dexrazoxane is the active ingredient in dexrazoxane hydrochloride
