Drunk (/drʌŋk/) is a state of intoxication caused by the consumption of alcohol or other psychoactive substances.

Etymology

The term "drunk" comes from the Old English word 'druncen', past participle of 'drincan' which means "to drink".

Definition

In medical terms, being drunk is often defined as a temporary condition where the central nervous system is impaired due to the intake of alcohol.
