Exercise (/ˈɛksərˌsaɪz/; from Latin exercitus, past participle of exercere to train, keep busy, drive on) is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. It is performed for various reasons, including increasing growth and development, preventing aging, strengthening muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance, improving health and also for enjoyment. Many individuals choose to exercise outdoors where they can congregate in groups, socialize, and enhance well-being.

Types of Exercise

There are several types of exercise, each with their own benefits and drawbacks. These include:

  • Aerobic exercise: This type of exercise aims to improve the body's consumption of oxygen, and includes activities such as running, cycling, swimming, and rowing.
