A Fishmonger (pronunciation: /ˈfɪʃˌmʌŋɡər/) is a retailer who sells raw fish and seafood. Fishmongers can be wholesalers or retailers, and are trained at selecting and purchasing, handling, gutting, boning, filleting, displaying, merchandising and selling their product.
Etymology
The term "fishmonger" comes from the Old English fiscmongere, meaning "fish trader". It's a compound of fisc (fish) and mongere (dealer).
