gastrostomy tube - (pronounced) (Gas-TROS-toh-mee toob) A tube that is inserted through the abdominal wall directly into the stomach. It allows air and fluid to leave the stomach and can be used to administer medication and fluids, including liquid food, to the patient. Feeding via a gastrostomy tube is a form of enteral feeding. Also called PEG tube and percutaneous endoscopic tube
