Gauss (unit)

Gauss (symbol: G) is a unit of magnetic field strength or magnetic flux density in the centimetre–gram–second system of units (CGS). Named after the German mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauss, it is equivalent to 1 maxwell per square centimetre.

Pronunciation

Gauss is pronounced as /ɡaʊs/ (rhymes with 'house').
