Gleolan - (pronounced) (GLEE-oh-lan) A drug containing the active ingredient aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride that is used in surgeries to help look for certain types of brain tumors. When gleolan is taken up by cancer cells and then exposed to certain types of light, it becomes active and can make the cancer cells more visible. Gleolan is a type of imaging agent and a type of photosensitizer
