Short definitionGlomerulonephritis (gloh-MAYR-yoo-loh-neh-FRY-tis) A condition in which the tissue in the kidney becomes inflamed and has trouble filtering waste from the blood. Glomerulonephritis can be caused by infections, inflammatory conditions (like lupus), certain genetic conditions, and other diseases or conditions.
