guided imagery - (pronounced) (GY-ded IH-muh-jree) A technique in which a person visualizes positive images or scenarios in their mind. During guided imagery, a person uses all of their senses in their imagination to relax the body and develop a sense of well-being. Guided imagery can be used to reduce stress, pain, anxiety and depression, and to help with symptoms associated with diseases such as cancer. Also called Guided Visualization and Imagination Therapy
