Handicraft (/ˈhændɪkrɑːft/), also known as craftwork or simply craft, is a type of work where useful and decorative objects are made completely by hand or by using only simple tools. The term is often applied to traditional techniques of creating items that are both practical and aesthetic.

The term "handicraft" is derived from the Old English words "hand" and "craft", which together mean "skill with the hands". The word was first used in the late 17th century.
