The term "Kenyan" is derived from the country's name, Kenya, which is believed to be named after Mount Kenya, the highest mountain in the country. The name "Kenya" is thought to come from the Kikuyu, Embu, and Kamba words "Kirinyaga", "Kirenyaa", and "Kiinyaa" - all of which mean "God's resting place" in the respective languages.
