The Thai cuisine is rich in flavor, taste, appearance and has many herbs and spices that are known to have medicinal benefits. In fact, in 2017, seven Thai dishes appeared on a list of the "World's 50 Best Foods"—an online poll of 35,000 people worldwide by CNN Travel, including tom yam goong (4th), pad Thai (5th), som tam (6th), massaman curry (10th), green curry (19th), Thai fried rice (24th) and mu nam tok (36th).
Types of Thai foods
According to Wikipedia's article on Thai cuisine, Thai food can be categorized as the following four categories:
- Tom (boiled dishes),
- Yam (spicy salads),
- Tam (pounded foods), and
- Gaeng (curries).
Influence of Indian and other cuisines
The Thai cuisine, (as well the Thai language which was based on Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language), is heavily influenced by the Indian cuisine with some influence from the cuisines from Malaysia & Indonesia, and China. For example, the deep-fries, stir-fries, and steamed dishes derive from Chinese cooking, while most curries and the rich spices are influenced by the Indian cuisine.

Pad Thai: Pad thai is a dish that includes stir-fried noodle. Instead of using regular noodles, you can use miracle noodles or better than noodles which are made from shiitake mushrooms. In addition to the noodles, it also takes bell peppers, scallions one type of protein such as shrimp, chicken, pork, beef or tofu. It also takes peanuts, scrambled egg, bean sprouts, sliced avocado on the side.
Massaman curry: Massaman curry is a type of coconut curry that includes flavors such as cardamon, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, anise star, nutmeg, and chili peppers and it is usually served with and any protein such as shrimp, chicken, pork, beef or tofu. Goes well with sliced Avocado.
Pad ki mao (Drunken Noodle): (Miracle Noodle or zucchini noodles) It is made with basil and fresh chili peppers, choice of meat, such as chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, along with broccoli, coconut, onions, and basil.
Pad kaprow: Any protein, Thai basil leaves, bell peppers, Thai chilies, coconut Amino and onions serve with cauliflower rice or sauteed over zucchini noodles or miracle noodles.
