LRMDA gene - (pronounced) (. . . jeen) A gene that produces a protein involved in the formation of cells that produce the pigment melanin, which gives color to the skin and eyes. Mutations (changes) in the LRMDA gene have been found in a rare inherited condition called oculocutaneous albinism type 7. People with this condition have vision problems, very fair skin, and are at high risk of developing skin cancer
