Etymology

The term "pharmaceutical" is derived from the Greek word "Pharmakeia" (φαρμακεία), which means "pharmacy". The word "company" comes from the Old French "compaignie", meaning "society, friendship, intimacy; body of soldiers", and ultimately from the Late Latin word "companio".
