Masculine (/ˈmæskjʊlɪn/; from Latin masculinus) is a term that is typically associated with male qualities attributed specifically to men and boys or things considered masculine.

The term Masculine is derived from Middle French masculin and in turn from Latin masculinus which is a diminutive of mas meaning male or man.
