Medical Library Association

The Medical Library Association (MLA) is a professional organization for health information professionals and libraries. Pronounced as /ˈmɛdɪkəl ˈlaɪbrəri əˌsoʊsiˈeɪʃən/, the term originates from the English words "medical", "library", and "association".

History

The Medical Library Association was established in 1898 with the aim of improving the dissemination of health information. The association has since grown to include thousands of members from health-related organizations across the globe.

Function

The MLA provides resources, education, and networking opportunities for its members. It also advocates for policies that improve access to health information.
