Metandienone

Metandienone (pronunciation: meh-tan-die-uh-nohn), also known as methandienone or methandrostenolone and sold under the brand name Dianabol among others, is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication which is mostly no longer used. It is also used non-medically for physique- and performance-enhancing purposes. It is often taken by mouth.

Etymology

The term "Metandienone" is derived from the chemical structure of the drug, specifically the presence of a methandienone group. The prefix "meta-" is derived from the Greek word "metá", meaning "beyond" or "after", and "dienone" refers to the diene (two double bonds) and ketone functional groups in the molecule.

Usage

Metandienone was formerly widely used for medical purposes, but it is now mainly used for performance enhancement. It is taken orally, usually in the form of tablets. It is known to increase muscle mass, strength, and improve athletic performance.

Side Effects

The use of Metandienone can lead to a number of potential side effects, including hepatotoxicity, cardiovascular disease, and gynecomastia. Long-term use can also lead to negative effects on the endocrine system.

Legal Status

In many countries, the use of Metandienone is controlled under the Controlled Substances Act. It is classified as a Schedule III drug under the Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990.
