Naldecon (pronounced: nal-de-kon) is a brand of over-the-counter medication primarily used for the relief of symptoms associated with colds, allergies, and sinusitis.

Etymology

The name "Naldecon" is a portmanteau of the active ingredients found in the medication: NAL from NALoxone, DEC from DECongestant, and ON from antihistamINe.

Usage

Naldecon is used to treat symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, itching of the nose or throat, and itchy, watery eyes caused by hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies. It can also be used to help decongest sinus openings and passages.

Ingredients

Naldecon contains several active ingredients including Pseudoephedrine, a nasal decongestant, Dexchlorpheniramine, an antihistamine, and Acetaminophen, a pain reliever and fever reducer.

Side Effects

Like all medications, Naldecon can cause side effects. Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth/nose/throat, headache, upset stomach, constipation, or trouble sleeping. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Precautions

Before taking Naldecon, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other decongestants (such as phenylephrine); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
