Nutritional information (pronunciation: /njuːˈtrɪʃ(ə)n(ə)l ɪnfəˈmeɪʃ(ə)n/) refers to the details about the nutrients found in food. It is often presented in a standardized format on food packaging, known as a Nutrition Facts label.

Etymology

The term "nutritional information" is derived from the words "nutrition" and "information". "Nutrition" comes from the Latin word nutrire, meaning "to feed" or "to nourish", while "information" comes from the Latin word informare, which means "to form an idea" or "to describe".
