Project Management

Project Management (pronunciation: /ˈprɒdʒ.ekt ˈmæn.ɪdʒ.mənt/) is a discipline that involves planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

Etymology

The term "project management" is derived from two words: "project" and "management". The word "project" comes from the Latin word projectum from the Latin verb proicere, "before an action" which in turn comes from pro-, which denotes priority, something that comes before something else in time (paralleling the Greek πρό) and iacere, "to do". The word "management" is derived from the Old French ménagement "the art of conducting, directing", from Latin manu agere "to lead by the hand".
