Pyrazolam

Pyrazolam (pronounced: py-raz-o-lam) is a benzodiazepine derivative that has been sold online as a designer drug. It selectively binds to the alpha-2 and alpha-3 subunits of the GABA_A receptor.

Etymology

The term "Pyrazolam" is derived from its chemical structure, which consists of a pyrazole ring fused to a benzodiazepine ring.

Pharmacology

Pyrazolam has been reported to have strong anxiolytic effects and is considered to be a sedative and muscle relaxant. It has a half-life of approximately 17 hours and is metabolized by the liver.

Legal Status

In many countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, Pyrazolam is a controlled substance under the Psychoactive Substances Act.
