Recovering (/rɪˈkʌvərɪŋ/), from the Latin recuperare meaning "to get back", is a medical term referring to the process of returning to a normal state of health, mind, or strength after an illness, injury, or other form of physical or mental impairment.

Etymology

The term recovering is derived from the Latin recuperare, which means "to get back". It was first used in the English language in the 14th century to describe the process of regaining something lost or taken away.
