Renewable resource

A renewable resource (pronunciation: /rɪˈnjuːəbəl rɪˈsɔːs/) is a natural resource which can replenish with the passage of time, either through biological reproduction or other naturally recurring processes.

Etymology

The term "renewable resource" is derived from the concept of "renewal" (from the Latin renovare meaning 'to make new again') and "resource" (from the Old French resourdre meaning 'to rise again').

Definition

Renewable resources are part of our natural environment and form our ecosystem. They are divided into two categories: Biological and Non-biological. Biological resources are those that are derived from living organisms, such as forests and animals. Non-biological resources are those that are not derived from living organisms, such as wind and sunlight.
