Resource Management (pronunciation: /ˈrɛsɔːs ˈmænɪdʒmənt/) is a key aspect in the field of Healthcare Management and Medical Practice. It involves the efficient and effective deployment and allocation of an organization's resources when and where they are needed. Such resources may include financial resources, inventory, human skills, production resources, or information technology (IT).

Etymology

The term "Resource Management" is derived from the words "resource" and "management". "Resource" (pronunciation: /ˈrɛsɔːs/) comes from the French "ressource", itself a derivative of the verb "resourdre", meaning "to rise again". "Management" (pronunciation: /ˈmænɪdʒmənt/) is derived from the Italian "maneggiare" (to handle), which in turn derives from the Latin "manus" (hand).
