SNOMED CT

SNOMED CT (pronounced "sno-med C-T") is a systematically organized computer processable collection of medical terminology covering most areas of clinical information such as diseases, findings, procedures, microorganisms, substances etc. It provides codes, terms, synonyms and definitions used in clinical documentation and reporting. SNOMED CT is considered to be the most comprehensive, multilingual clinical healthcare terminology in the world.

Etymology

SNOMED CT stands for Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine - Clinical Terms. It is a product of the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO), now known as SNOMED International.
