Single person (/ˈsɪŋɡəl ˈpɜːrsən/) is a term used to denote an individual who is not involved in any type of romantic or committed relationship. The term is often used in contrast to someone who is married or in a committed relationship.

Etymology

The term "single person" is derived from the Old English word "singale", which means "individual" or "one", and the Latin word "persona", which means "human being" or "individual".
