Time management (/taɪm ˈmænɪdʒmənt/) is the process of planning and exercising conscious control of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.

Etymology

The term "time management" is a misnomer. It is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities. The term was first used in the 1950s and 1960s as businesses and industries started to recognize the benefits of organizing their time more efficiently.
