Treadmill
Treadmill
Treadmill (/ˈtrɛdˌmɪl/) is a device generally used for walking, running, or climbing while staying in the same place. The term treadmill originally referred to a type of mill which was operated by a person or animal treading steps of a wheel to grind grain (see Treadwheel).
Etymology
The term 'treadmill' is derived from the words 'tread', which means to step or walk, and 'mill', which is a place established for a particular process, in this case, grinding grain. The term was later applied to exercise equipment due to the similar action performed by the user.
Usage
