HIV RNA test - (pronounced) A test to check for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. HIV is the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). An HIV RNA test checks a sample of blood for the RNA (genetic material) of the virus. This test can detect HIV in the blood about 9-11 days after contracting the virus. An HIV RNA test is used to test someone who may have just contracted HIV
