Kansas City (pronunciation: /ˈkænzəs ˈsɪti/) is a major city in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is the largest city in Missouri and the central city of the Kansas City metropolitan area, which straddles the Kansas-Missouri border.
Etymology
Kansas City was named for the Kansas River, which in turn was named for the Kansa Native Americans who lived along its banks. The city's diverse economy and cultural scene have attracted residents from all over the world.
