Sane (/seɪn/), derived from the Latin word sanus meaning healthy, is a term used in medicine and psychology to describe a state of mental health where an individual is of sound mind and is able to distinguish reality from fantasy.

The term sane originates from the Latin word sanus, which translates to healthy. In the context of mental health, it refers to a state of mental soundness and rationality.
