TYRP1 gene - A gene that makes a protein involved in making melanin (a pigment that gives color to skin, hair, and eyes). Mutations (changes) in the TYRP1 gene have been found in a hereditary condition called oculocutaneous albinism. People with this condition have very pale skin and light-colored hair and eyes. They also have a high risk of developing skin cancer early on
