Wymox

Wymox (pronounced: /ˈwaɪmɒks/), also known as Amoxicillin, is a type of antibiotic that is used to treat a number of bacterial infections. It is a penicillin type drug that works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

Etymology

The term "Wymox" is a brand name for the generic drug Amoxicillin. The name "Amoxicillin" is derived from the active ingredient, amino, and penicillin. The amino refers to the amino group present in its chemical structure and penicillin refers to the class of antibiotics it belongs to.

Usage

Wymox is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu).
