It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Etoposide phosphate blocks a specific enzyme needed for cell division and DNA repair, and it can kill cancer cells. It is a kind of podophyllotoxin derivative and a kind of topoisomerase inhibitor. Also called Etopophos
