Im Gebäude der DWK (Deutsche Wirtschafts Kommission) in Berlin Leipziger Straße wählten am 11. Oktober 1949 die Provisorische Länderkammer und die Provisorische Volkskammer einstimmig Wilhelm Pieck zum Staatspräsidenten der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik.
