English: Millstone and Roller
  • Peiligang Culture
  • Neolithic Period (ca. 5500–5000 B.C.)
  • Excavated at Xinzheng, Henan Province, 1979
A simple block of stone with a flattened surface was used as a millstone, on which the bar was rolled to grind millet and grain into flour. Grains could also be threshed through this process, as it separated husks and chaff from edible parts of the grain.
