A) An ear of rye with sclerotia natural size, 1 Mature sclerotium, of the same, 2 Ovaries with the mushroom mycelium covered enlarged; 3 Of the same in longitudinal section, ditto, 4 Ovary with the beginning of the formation of the sclerotiums, ditto, 5 The same character in another stage of development, ditto, 6 The latter figure, in longitudinal section, ditto, 7 Mycelium with conidia carriers and conidia, ditto, 8 Sclerotium with the fruit bodies, ditto; increased 9 Fruit carrier more, 10 Is the same in longitudinal section with the perithecia, ditto, 11 Cut from the perithecia layer even more enlarged, magnified 12 Single perithecium even more, 13 Spore tube, same as above (must be the same at the top end slightly tapered be) 14 Tube spores, ditto, 15 Germinating spores tube.
