Summary[edit]

Summary
Description Low magnification micrograph of uterine papillary serous carcinoma, also uterine serous carcinoma. H&E stain.

Serous carcinoma is a less common form of endometrial cancer. It is extremely aggressive and tends to arise in the setting of atrophy. Classically, it affects post-menopausal women. Features

Columnar (or cuboidal) cells with marked nuclear size variation and irregularity of the nuclear membrane. Cilia. Psammoma bodies - present in approximately 40-50% of tumours. Papillae - nipple-shaped structures with fibrovascular cores, not always present; ergo, uterine papillary serous carinoma may be a misnomer. Related images
