gavage - (pronounced) (guh-VAZH) A method of administering drugs and liquids, including liquid foods, through a small tube inserted through the nose or mouth into the stomach or small intestine. Sometimes the tube is inserted into the stomach or small intestine through an incision (cut) on the outside of the abdomen. Tube feeding can be added to what a person can eat and drink, or it can be the sole source of nutrition. It is a form of enteral feeding. Also called tube feeding
