Male Genitalia

Male genitalia (/meɪl dʒɛnɪˈteɪliə/), from the Latin genitalis meaning "pertaining to generation or birth" and male meaning "of the sex that produces sperm", refers to the external and internal sex organs that function in human reproduction in males.

External Male Genitalia

The external male genitalia primarily consist of the penis and the scrotum.

Penis

The penis (/ˈpiːnɪs/), from the Latin penis meaning "tail", is the primary sexual organ that male humans use to inseminate sexually receptive mates (usually females and hermaphrodites) during copulation.

Scrotum

The scrotum (/ˈskroʊtəm/), from the Latin scrotum meaning "a purse", is an anatomical male reproductive structure that consists of a suspended dual-chambered sack of skin and smooth muscle that is present in most terrestrial male mammals and is located under the penis.

Internal Male Genitalia

The internal male genitalia include the testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, and bulbourethral glands.

Testes

The testes (/ˈtɛstiːz/), from the Latin testis meaning "witness", are the male gonads, the primary male reproductive organs. They produce sperm and androgens, primarily testosterone.

Epididymis

The epididymis (/ˌɛpɪˈdɪdɪmɪs/), from the Greek epi meaning "on" and didymis meaning "testicle", is a tube that connects a testicle to a vas deferens in the male reproductive system.

Vas Deferens

The vas deferens (/væs dɪˈfɛrənz/), from the Latin vas meaning "vessel" and deferens meaning "carrying away", is part of the male reproductive system of many vertebrates; these vasa transport sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory ducts in anticipation of ejaculation.

Seminal Vesicles

The seminal vesicles (/ˈsɛmɪnəl ˈvɛsɪkəlz/), from the Latin vesicula meaning "little bladder" and semen meaning "seed", are a pair of simple tubular glands posteroinferior to the urinary bladder of some male mammals.

Prostate Gland

The prostate gland (/ˈprɒsteɪt/), from the Greek prostates meaning "one standing in front", is a gland surrounding the neck of the bladder in male mammals and releasing prostatic fluid.

Bulbourethral Glands

The bulbourethral glands (/ˌbʌlboʊjʊˈriːθrəl/), also called Cowper's glands, are two small exocrine glands in the reproductive system of many male mammals.
