Substances derived from the root have been used in some cultures to relieve stress, anxiety, tension, insomnia and menopause issues. Yangona can increase the effects of alcohol and certain medicines used to treat anxiety and depression. The US Food and Drug Administration advises users that yangona can cause severe liver damage.
