Advocate Aurora Health

Advocate Aurora Health (pronounced: ad-voh-kate aw-roar-uh health) is a not-for-profit health care organization in the United States. It was formed in 2018 by the merger of Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care.

Etymology

The name "Advocate Aurora Health" is derived from the names of the two organizations that merged to form it. "Advocate" is from Advocate Health Care, a healthcare system based in Illinois, and "Aurora" is from Aurora Health Care, a healthcare system based in Wisconsin.

History

Advocate Health Care was founded in 1995, and Aurora Health Care was founded in 1984. The two organizations announced their intention to merge in 2017, and the merger was completed in 2018, forming Advocate Aurora Health.

Services

Advocate Aurora Health provides a range of healthcare services, including primary care, specialty care, hospital care, and home care. It operates more than 500 sites of care, including 26 hospitals, and employs more than 70,000 people.
