Biovail (/baɪoʊveɪl/) is a term often used in the field of pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology. It refers to a former Canadian company that was one of the country's largest publicly traded pharmaceutical companies. Etymology

History

Biovail Corporation was founded in 1989 by Eugene Melnyk. The company specialized in the development and commercialization of advanced drug delivery technologies and formulations. In 2010, Biovail merged with Valeant Pharmaceuticals, another Canadian pharmaceutical company, and the combined entity continued under the Valeant name.
